Sinestro

Real Name:
Sinestro
Base of Operations: Mobile
Group Affiliation: The Legion of Doom
Powers: Sinestro wields a power-ring, which has the same
abilities as Green Lantern’s only his ring emits yellow energy
rather than green. With his ring, Sinestro can do a variety of
things such as fly, breathe in space or under-water, make
constructs made of solid yellow energy, and fire destructive
blasts.
Origin/History: Sinestro comes from the plant Korugar(the
same planet as the Green Lantern Katma Tui). Sinestro was once a
Green Lantern himself, in fact, the sector he patrolled had the
lowest crime-rate in all of the sectors of the universe that the
Green Lanterns patrolled. Due to his tremendous accomplishments,
Sinestro was asked by the Guardians of The Universe to train new
recruits to the Green Lantern Corps. One of his trainees
included Hal Jordan himself. Soon, Sinestro became arrogant and
started using fear and unethical methods to keep his sector
under control. Upon realizing Sinestro’s questionable methods,
the Guardians of The Universe stripped Sinestro of his
power-ring and banished him to the anti-matter universe of Quard.
In was in the universe of Quard where Sinestro gained his yellow
power-ring. Using his power-ring to travel back to the positive
matter universe, Sinestro sought revenge on all Green Lanterns
but has most frequently clashed with Hal Jordan.
Moment of Glory: In the Super Friends episode “The Time
Trap”, Gorilla Grodd comes up with a plan for the Legion of Doom
to go back in time and steal the various treasures of the earth
before they are discovered in modern times. Sinestro and Captain
Cold are dispatched back into Medieval Times to steal the
treasure of King Arthur. Green Lantern and Samurai follow the
villains into the past to try and stop them. Once in the past,
the heroes confront the villains and Sinestro challenges Hal
Jordan to a Medieval joust. The two power-ring wielders create
horses and lances for themselves and lunge towards each other.
Sinestro is victorious when he knocks Hal Jordan off his horse
and on to his backside. Luckily for Hal, Samurai uses his
tornado-powers to subdue Sinestro before he can finish off Hal.
Moment of Shame: In the Super Friends’ episode “Dooms’
Day”, the Legion of Doom attempts to capture a nuclear
submarine. Sinestro, Black Manta, and Cheetah are assigned to
the task. The trio succeeds in taking over the ship when
suddenly, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman arrive to
thwart the villains’ plans. A fierce battle erupts just as the
Hall of Doom with the rest of the Legion arrives to back up
their comrades. Thinking quickly, Hal Jordan uses his power-ring
to turn himself into a giant, which scares away the Hall of
Doom’s passengers. After seeing their comrades flee, Sinestro,
Black Manta, and Cheetah make a run for it like a bunch of
scared children but are ultimately captured. The thing that
doesn’t make sense, is that in theory, Sinestro could have used
his power-ring to turn himself into a giant to take on Hal.
