Powers: The Flash has the power of super-speed. When running, he can attain the speed of light. Besides running, he can use his super-speed in a variety of other ways such as speeding up his molecules enough to vibrate through solid objects, travel in time, run on top of water, and create mini-tornados.

Origin/History: Police-scientist Barry Allen was working in his lab one stormy night. Allen’s lab was struck by lightning. The mixture of the chemicals in the lab and the lightning made him a conduit for the Speed Force. Granted with super-speed, Barry decided to take on the mantle of this generation’s Flash.

Moment of Glory: In the Super Friends episode “Trial of The Super Friends”, the Legion of Doom has taken control of a substance called the “Liquid Light”. The substance is capable of disintegrating anything it touches. The Legion ends up unleashing a large portion of the Liquid Light on an unsuspecting town. Superman tries to halt the flow of the Liquid Light with an old abandoned dam but the Liquid Light eats right through it. Just as all seems lost, The Flash races around the Liquid Light forcing it up into the atmosphere where it explodes and falls back down to earth as harmless falling stars.

Moment of Shame: In the Super Friends’ episode “Revenge On Gorilla City”, the Legion of Doom has taken over Gorilla City. Apache Chief, Batman, Robin, and The Flash are asked by Solivar(leader of Gorilla City) to help free his city from the Legion’s control. Once the four arrive in Gorilla City, they take on Toyman and Black Manta. Black Manta uses a ray-gun that encases whoever it hits in an energy-prison to trap Apache Chief, Batman, and Robin. The Flash thinks he’s too fast to be caught but Manta accounts for Flash’s speed and calculates where he’ll be a few moments after he fires his ray and ends up stopping the Flash dead in his tracks.

Quote: “If it’s time you’re worried about, my super-speed can get me there in a flash!”
