Black
Vulcan

Real Name:
Unknown
Base of Operations: Metropolis
Group Affiliation: The Super Friends
Powers: Black Vulcan has electrical powers. He can use
his powers in a variety of ways including flight, firing
electrical bolts from his hands, making bright flashes of light,
and traveling through time.
Origin/History: Very little is known about Black Vulcan.
One day he was simply seen flying over the skies of Metropolis.
Soon after, he joined the Super Friends in their quest for
justice. Some speculate that Black Vulcan is also known as
another electricity-powered hero, Black Lightning. While Black
Lightning is not as powerful as Black Vulcan, it is possible
that he received a power-upgrade, which could have caused
amnesia, which in turn, caused Black Lightning to start calling
himself Black Vulcan.
Moment of Glory: In the Super Friends episode “The Voodoo
Vampire”, Vampirus(The Voodoo Vampire) has risen from her tomb
in the African swamps. She manages to use her vampire powers to
turn Superman, Batman, Robin, and Aquaman plus several civilians
into her vampire slaves leaving only Black Vulcan and Wonder
Woman to save the day. The two remaining heroes confront
Vampirus at her tomb as she is about to take her slaves into her
tomb for their eternal rest. Just as all seems lost, Black
Vulcan flies up to the moon and shoots a huge blast of lightning
at it which reflects off the surface of the moon which in turn,
frees Vampirus’ slaves from their trance and forces Vampirus
back into her tomb which Superman quickly seals off.
Moment of Shame: In the Super Friends episode
“Whirlpool”, Black Vulcan and Aquaman are dispatched to save an
oil tanker from an approaching whirlpool. While trying to steer
the ship away from oncoming storm, Black Lightning fires a
lightning bolt at the ship in hopes of steering the ship away
from the storm but instead breaks off the ship’s rudder!
