Since i normally card my figures, and i showed the process of creating them, i am showing you my process of making the card backs.

First you need Photo-editing software. I use photoshopCS, so this will be a photoshop tutorial also. The version of photoshop doesnt matter as i wont be using any "CS" specific tools or functions.

Since i like my cards to look like they are Hasbro productions, I start with a scan of one of their cards.
Lets use....ummm... A clone!(Paul's favorite  )

I scan at 300 DPI. This image is smaller for sake of loading.
First thing i do is "Clean" off all the unwanted pictures and information. This is so i can have a blank template.

Using the CLONE tool, you can take part of the picture and clone it to another area.
By pressing the "ALT" button you copy an area and by using your mouse you duplicate that area. It looks almost like erasing.
Here you see i have started cleaning away the clone-figure and the referecne pic at the top.
I contiue this process till I have a blank template.
Then using Layers in photoshop i can add Text, Reference pics, figure picture and keep them all seperate so i can change them each time i need to make a card.
Here is an example of my layer structure. (Keep in mind, More layers = Larger File)
You can create new layers by using the pulldown menu found at the top right by clicking on the little arrow.
Changing Text. Since i dont have inside info on what text Hasbro uses, I try to match the text as best i can.
Using the typetool
The easiest way to do this is type the same thing you are trying to match.
If the word (in this example) Clone Trooper is what you are trying to match, Type Clone Trooper.

Highlight it and search through your fonts
to find one as close as possible. (Ariel, Myriad Pro & Impact usually work well)
After i've typed the same word, i search through my fonts to pick a close match.
When you select the Type tool, a box with the text name will appear and it has a pull down menu that lists all the fonts on your computer.
Since i kept the original cardback in a seperate layer, i can turn it on or off(making it visible or not) when i need to. That way i can see if everything is lined up.
Once i have a text that is close, i scale or stretch it to match closer. This is found under the pulldown menu at the top. Under EDIT > TRANSFORM > SCALE
When that is done i have a close match to the original text.
Then you can just use the type tool to edit the text to whatever figure name you are doing. In this case "Shocktrooper"
The figure number is done the same way. This is my 99th custom figure so I number it "99".
I then repeat this process for all the card text i want to change.

Then i add the picture of the reference pic and picture of the figure i'm making the card for.

This can be done a few different ways. I like to select an area and paste into it. This allows the picture to show only in the area selected.
Using the magic wand tool, you can select by color. Depending on how high the tollerence is set, you can choose all the pixels that are the same color. You can also use the lasso tool to "lasso and area" and paste into that.
Once the area is selected you can "paste the reference pic into" the selected area.
When this is done, you can move, scale or rotate the picture so that it fits the area you want.
Here you see the reference pic pasted and its too small. So i scale it to make it bigger. Since i used paste into the reference pic will not show past the black area i pasted to.
Once it is resized, you can see how it only shows where there was black, so it looks like its behind the other stuff.
I now add the Figure picture. A simple cut an paste will do this since its in the foreground of everthing(in front of)
I used paste into for stuff in the background.
I leave these as sepreate layers so i can turn them on or off as needed or wanted.

Then, i add the "Collect them all" figuers. These are just pics of other figures i made, copy and pasted and scaled to match the existing ones on the card. Thats why i left that lonely clone trooper in the "cleaned" card.

After all is said and done and the text is matched and changed for each figure i have a custom cardback.
I then save this as a Jpeg copy so i can print cardbacks for this figure again if i have to.

I repeat the same process with the card-insert.
I remove the reference pic and figure-specific text so i can add my own later.
and after
Thats how I make my cardbacks. Hope this helps someone out.
